Leaders Excellence held its first meeting in 2014 at the Harvard Faculty Club with a select group of founding members and fellows—the same year it was incorporated in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. At this gathering, President Dan Hoeyer outlined the vision for Leaders Excellence:
